Book of God - Psalm of David, 103
1. Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name. ...
3. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases.
4 He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies...
The Psalmist is full of joy and is wholeheartedly dedicated to God (Allah in Arabic) and the cause of praising God for all he is. The king and prophet David shows us that the truth of the forgiveness of sins needs to be proclaimed world wide. There are millions who strive by pious acts, by self-sacrifice, by prayers, by martyrdom to seek the forgiveness of their sins - but all will be to no avail. Jesus (the Christ) was the only sinless prophet and Christ - And he died for the sins of all the world - God showed us in him that God forgives the sins of all who turn away from themselves and turn to him and give themselves to following his ways of compassion and mercy to all others. Yes, God's purpose is to redeem people from spiritual death - And he does that through the forgiveness of sins and giving his Spirit to enable people to magnify his name!
7. He revealed his character to Moses ..
8. The Lord is compassionate and merciful, slow to anger and filled with unfailing love...
The truth is that God is compassionate and merciful .. he doesn't treat us as our sins deserve. For he knows our weakness. God calls everyone he has made to be like him in character, to be compassionate and merciful to everyone else. There is no callousness or cruelty or self-centred pride in God's dealings with us! For God wants all people to come into close relationship with himself and with all other people. It is the sin of our self-centred pride, our cruelty and callousness to others that keeps God away from us and us from God. As the Book of God shows us, no self-sacrifice, no pious duty, no pilgrimage, no act of charity, no martyrdom will absolve us from our sin unless we repent and turn our hearts and ways over to God's compassion and mercy. The Muslim holy Koran repeats the same message of Allah's compassion and mercy in its opening Surah. Any other revelation or sayings of a prophet that contradicts this revealed character of God is to be rejected - it is of human origin, not of God's Spirit.
11. For his unfailing love towards those who hear him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth.
12. He has removed our sins as far as the east is from the west.
13. The Lord is like a (good) father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him.
21. ... praise the Lord you armies of angels who serve him and do his will! ..
22. ... Let all that I am praise the Lord.
The book of God tells us 'If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels (or if I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body), but I didn't love others, I would a noisy gong..I would have gained nothing.' God is father like to all who fear (respect and love) him. Let us do that and let us praise God for his compassion and mercy with our lips and with our lives. Amen!
