Reflections on David's Psalms and New Testament

The name 'God' is NOT exclusively Christian. The Hebrew would be Y H W H: the Arabic is 'Allah.' Despite difference on the nature of Almighty God, there is commonality in the Psalms (Zabur in Arabic) for Jews, Muslims and Chrstians to find direction from Almighty God. Scripture text is from The Living Bible published by Tyndale House Publishers, 1971, Illinos used by permission.

HOLY PSALM OF DAVID (ZABUR) TEN

1 … Why do you hide when I am in trouble?  2 The wicked arrogantly hunt down the poor. … 4 The wicked are too proud to seek God. They seem to think that God is dead. 5 Yet they succeed in everything they do. They do not see your punishment awaiting them. … 9 Like lions crouched in hiding, waiting to pounce on the helpless … 10 Their helpless victims are crushed; they fall beneath the strength of the wicked. … 17 Lord you know the hopes of the helpless. Surely you will hear their cries and comfort them.  18 You will bring justice to the orphans and the oppressed, so mere people can no longer terrify them.
The Psalmist is a victim of those who oppress the helpless and in this psalm he cried out to God for justice, but God seems to be doing nothing to help.  However, the Psalmist had faith that God will one day bring justice to the orphans and the oppressed.
It is apparent from this psalm that defeating others and/or oppressing them is not a sign that God is with someone’s cause as some claim for themselves.  Those with power need to be vigilant to ensure that they practice compassion and care for the weak and helpless because God is compassionate towards the poor and helpless.  This psalm further underlines the message of psalm 9.
A poem from Psalm 10: -
“God is dead,” they cry,
As proud claws sink into our flesh.
We have no strength, but yours, O Lord,
Come now save the oppressed!

A prayer: - O God come to our aid we pray! Amen
